Proving that whether you're an experienced hiker or just starting out, this hike is suitable for everyone. The trail is well maintained, and there are plenty of places to rest if needed. Additionally, the hike is only around 3.2 kilometers, so it can be completed in a few hours. Although, I must say, I took my time and spent around four hours exploring the area.
The hike itself is absolutely stunning. As you make your way along the trail, you'll be surrounded by vibrant greenery and stunning views of the rainforest canopy. The hanging bridges add an extra layer of excitement to the experience, providing incredible views of the forest floor and the Arenal Volcano in the distance. At times, it can be a bit unnerving to walk across the bridges, but the feeling of being suspended above the treetops is truly unforgettable. The best part is that you never feel pressure to keep moving. There seemed to always be space to walk slowly and really take in the serenity.
Another thing I loved about the Mistico Hanging Bridges was the easy ticket buying process and smooth arrival experience. Everything was organized and efficient, allowing me to start my hike quickly without any delays. The entrance was actually right next to the ticket booth. I didn't need to do any reservation, I just showed up. The staff was friendly and helpful, answering any questions I had and providing helpful tips for navigating the trail. To add the cherry on top, the drive to the park was picturesque as well and any car can handle the drive. Just drive slowly and enjoy the scenery!
One of the highlights of my visit was the delicious food at the on-site restaurant. After my hike, I was ready for a hearty meal, and the restaurant did not disappoint. The menu offered a range of options, from traditional Costa Rican dishes to international cuisine. I opted for the casado of course, a traditional Costa Rican meal that includes rice, beans, plantains, and your choice of protein. It was delicious and satisfying, the perfect way to refuel after a day of hiking.
