From lush jungles and pristine beaches to towering volcanoes and misty cloud forests, the unparalleled beauty of Costa Rica never fails to leave a lasting impression. History of Tiquicia

"Tiquicia" is a term of endearment used by Costa Ricans to refer to their beloved country

Let's take a journey back in time to the beginnings of Costa Rica! The country got its name from Christopher Columbus who sailed the shores in 1502 and was impressed by the gold trinkets worn by the indigenous people. He named the land "Costa Rica," or the "Rich Coast."

But the real riches of Costa Rica lie not in gold, but in the people and their values. Did you know that Costa Rica is one of only a handful of countries in the world without an army? The government abolished the military in 1948 and has since focused on investing in education, health care, and environmental conservation.

Speaking of conservation, Costa Rica is a true champion when it comes to protecting the environment. In the 1980s, the country was losing its forests at an alarming rate due to deforestation. But thanks to a strong commitment to conservation and reforestation efforts, Costa Rica was able to reverse this trend and is now a global leader in sustainable practices.

From its stunning beaches to its lush rainforests, Costa Rica is truly a magical place. But what makes Costa Rica even more extraordinary is the warm-hearted people and their unwavering commitment to sharing the joys of the Pura Vida lifestyle!
